ACL / MCL-FRIENDLY. WITHOUT PRE-RELEASE.

Howell SkiBindings are the ONLY pure alpine ski bindings providing MCL and ACL friendly skiing without pre-release at normal settings.

This is a big deal — born out of 47-years of work in the ski-binding category by leading ski binding expert, Rick Howell.  During the last 20 years, intensively-focused biomechanical laboratory-based ‘crash-dummy’ research has been performed by Howell and team to refine and validate this important breakthrough that will bring great joy to all skiers.  The results have been presented at major international orthopedic research conferences around the world (1) —with glowing accolades.  Perhaps most significantly, extensive ‘closed-door’ on-snow testing has verified that dangerous pre-release is radically mitigated with Howell SkiBindings.

In essence, Howell SkiBindings deliver 2 breakthroughs:  ACL and MCL friendly skiing.  No pre-release.  YES, it’s now finally possible to have it both ways!

How is this achieved?  The patented technology uniquely incorporates ‘functional decoupling’ to separate the special 3-modes of release from the factors that cause pre-release.  For details, see the Menu‘s subsection — ’Tech Info’.

Howell SkiBindings also deliver the highest level of edge control of any ski binding ever produced — and have a super-low 17mm standheight to allow efficient use with just about any AT-frame — or any racing-lifter while still remaining under FIS standheight regulations.

Before first-shipments in October, 2023 — it’s reasonably expected that Howell SkiBindings will achieve safety-certification according to DIN / ISO — especially since Rick Howell is a co-author of these safety-standards.

Please note!  So-called ‘tech-bindings’ easily cause horrific tibia plateau fractures — and hybrid tech / alpine bindings do not provide MCL or ACL injury mitigation. Others’ bindings with so-called ‘Diagonal Release’ do not respond to the key forces that cause ACL and MCL injury (downward-weighted-lateral) — and no ski-boot can pass-laterally through the side-lugs of pivot-turntable bindings (pivot-turntable bindings cause ACL and MCL injury).
