Howell Mars 4 - 10 DIN — for strong / smooth recreational skiers.
• Same technology as Howell race bindings — but with a lower range of settings, and housings made with a combination of engineering-grade resins and high-strength aluminum alloy.
• Off-center pivots in all 3 modes of release decouples ski-flex from the release functions — to decisively mitigate adverse pre-release.
• Industry-leading elasticity further mitigates adverse pre-release.
• Extra-wide 8-point lateral boot contact — toe & heel, top & bottom — provides extra powerful edge control.
• Lite. Strong. Pure alpine. No pins.
• ACL, MCL, meniscus, tibia friendly. Proven biomechanically.
Details:
Toe and heel housings are made of super-durable, engineering-grade, non-hydroscopic, Nylon-11 with 40% long glass fibers.
Non-corroding, 303 stainless-steel inner workings provide durable, reliable, long-term function.
Utility-patented, low, 21.5 mm stand-height reduces cumulative, long-term, stress on ACL, MCL, meniscus and tibia. Low stand-height allows most race-plates (not included) while meeting FIS racing-rules.
0°-ramp angle provides natural athletic stance, independently of boot sole length.
Adjustable toe-cup height provides precise boot-interface.
Floating Mounting System mitigates mounting-screw pull-outs & provides natural ski flex.
GripWalk sole or ‘standard alpine sole’ compatible. Both options included. We recommend non-GripWalk boots — to provide tibia-plateau integrity.
Extra toe-pads and heel-pads — attachable with simple re-mounting of toe or heel.
Deep retracting brake-arms provide maximum edge-angle without boot-out’s;
Anticipated compliance with all DIN/ISO safety standards (specifically, DIN/ISO 9462, 9465 and 11087) as well as ‘standard industry practice ‘ for anti-pre-release and durability.
Individually tested and calibrated;
5 Year Limited Warranty;
2 brake retainers for edge/base-prep;
2 sets of ski-brakes: 70-80mm; 80-90mm**;
Precision metal mounting jig; 4.1mm-Ø DIN-standard drill-bit; 4.0mm-Ø DIN-standard tap;
Detailed, simple, mounting instructions; mounting certification program; 24/7 on-line AI service.

** Howell SkiBindings is against (a) ski waist widths greater than 90mm, AND against (b) all 'pin-bindings' (except Trab TR2; and Shift, though do not fall with Shift bindings while in the touring-mode, and Shift bindings are not with ACL-integrity) — due to their association with severe, high-energy, tibia-plateau fractures. Market saturation of pin-bindings and fat-skis match the increase of severe tibial-plateau fractures. The high-energy nature of this type of fracture often involves multiple bone-fragments, difficult surgical reconstruction, and 10 to 15-months of aggressive rehabilitation. Fat skis and/or pin-bindings on firm snow are a serious problem for the sustainability of our beautiful sport. (‘Pin-bindings’ are hardly “tech”.)
